Transmission Information (1970 SS Models Only)

1) The M20 wide-ratio unit was sold as the standard manual transmission on the SS 396 models in

1970.

2) The M21 close-ratio transmission was standard on the SS 454s and optional on the SS396

package.

3) Both transmissions were coded with the letters "WC".

4) 3:31 gears were standard and used with both transmissions whether you had air conditioning

or not.

5) All transmissions were stamped with the car's VIN.

6) In cars with the L34 engine, this stamping was in the same location as the 1969, but in cars

with a 454 engine, it was located on the pad on the upper left-hand corner of the right

hand side of the case

7) The M22 Transmission was optional in 1970.
